19thc Quilt SOLD

This is a beautiful and very large 19th century patchwork coverlet. It is made up in an unusual way; blocks of patchwork have been hand sewn onto a heavy cotton backing into an interesting pattern, so applique patchwork, and it isn’t lined or batted. It has a deep cotton edging that has been machined. The patchwork fabrics are all lovely printed cottons with distinctive tiny designs dating to somewhere around 1840-60 as far as I can tell, it may have been made up later than that out of early fabric.

It measures about 2.63 meters by 2.5 meters or 103″ by 98.5″ and weighs about 2.6 kilograms.  the condition is very good, overall clean and fresh-looking, but there are some pale marks here and there and some tiny darker specks and some minor storage marking to the back, the odd little tole or thinning, but nothing serious.
